I just wanted to say a big thank you to all who made it out to our Annual General Meeting on such an inclement evening last Friday. It was a positive and good natured affair and showed the club as a busy and fun place to be. I will assemble the presentations and write the minutes in due course and will publish all of this on the club news feed. In advance of this I thought it appropriate to extend welcomes and congratulations to the following.
George Jenkins – George has done the club the great honour of accepting an appointment of Honourary Vice President of the club. He is stepping down as Chairman this year after giving the club excellent service and making key contributions to our equipment and base at Betteshanger. His patronage of the club has been much valued and we look forward to retaining this association in the future.
Caroline Rigby – Is our Women’s Representative and has already been busy developing a prize structure for women riders in the club. We are lucky to have someone with such energy and wish her well with this other initiatives.
Dan Martin – Dan is stepping down as Junior representative. He has made a strong contribution to youth cycling both within the club and in British Cycling. We wish him well with his studies at university.
Megan Griffiths and David Redmond – Megan and David are our new junior and youth committee representatives. As longstanding Go Ride members who have been active across all parts of the club and both youngsters have been involved with the youth side of British Cycling. We are lucky to have them join the team.
Jim Dickson – having deputised as Chairman for George on a number of occasions, I have agreed to stay in the committee as Chairman and, for the present, Membership and General Secretary. We are seeking someone to take on the role of membership secretary and I will write about this separately.
I hope to see you at the Prize Supper this weekend and can’t wait to see ‘Thanet Road Club Cycling for Generations’.
