Many of the regular testers were back out in Kent for the first time since September 2020.

It was great to be back out on the road.

Sunday’s event, scheduled to be a 25 on Q25/8 had to be re arranged to a 10 mile TT due to roadworks just beyond Godmersham.

Well done to Pip Jenkins and here team from KCA who organised and delivered the event, very safely.

Thanks to all those who helped from all of us who rode.

There was a strong Thanet Road Club (TRC) contingent in both the road bike and time trial bike events.

It was a somewhat cold morning, 1.1 deg C for me, slowly warming up for later riders, but it was bright and sunny.

Q10/6 for many of us is a new course within the Q25/8 we are all so familiar with, so a personal best (PB) for me and a few others as it’s the first time we’ve ridden Q10/6.

The event was run, in 2 sections; road bikes and time trial bikes.

There were lots of TRC riders on the start sheet, but a few regulars from previous years conspicuous by their absence.

Well done to Tallulah Butcher, stepping out from Zwift and Cyclopark to the road. This may well have been one of her first open time trials on the road as a junior, she posted a creditable 29:40.

Also, well done to Oliver Robinson who did 20:57 on a road bike coming 4th overall, bettering the times of many of us on TT bikes, including inspirational dad Colin who was riding the TT event!

It was a family affair with Paul Burrows, started by his mum Christine who was start time keeper and followed round the course by his dad Andy.

Nic Fennell came second overall to brother Chris with a very fast 20:49- great ride Nic.

Some riders were unable to start as they didn’t have a fitted and working rear light- reminder to us all when completing in Cycling Time Trial (CTT) events.

The event was won by Chris Fennell (The Independent Pedaler – Nopinz), breaking his own course record (I think)and recording 19:37, averaging over 30mph for the whole course.
