Responding to an ad in Cyclist Magazine, Gordon immediately joined the Thanet RC winter training programme run by Jim Braginton.

He was a prolific time trialist and club racer. He also held various posts on the committee, including club secretary, treasurer and event secretary. Gordon and Alice were very keen cyclist tourers, taking the family on various journeys to France and beyond.
Gordon passed away on 28 June 2000.
