Time Trial Secretary
The TRC Committee thanks Simon Henderson for all his hard work in making the core competitive part of our club work so smoothly over the last few years. During his period as Time Trial secretary, I think that I am right in saying, the numbers of members participating in both open and club TTs has blossomed, Thanet is now regularly the best represented club on the Opens circuit; much of this is down to TRC’s smooth running and busy time trial programme which Simon has so expertly choreographed. Simon has completed a good stint in the role and has informed the committee he will be standing down at the the next AGM. This means that we are looking for a new Time Trial Secretary for next year. Simon tells me that he has a job description for the role and that anyone interested in the position should contact him for further information.
Press/Publicity Officer
We are still looking for someone to take on the role of club publicity officer. Most of our results and activities are well documented on our social media feeds and website they just need to be coordinated and pushed out to the local press. Members and event leaders who have contacted the press with stories have found them very receptive. There is an open door for us to push at here, we just need someone to take the lead.
Go-Ride Coaches
Youth membership remains very buoyant and our recent re-validation for the British Cycling’s Club Mark shows that this part of the club is run on strong and safe foundations. We always need volunteers and coaches in the Go-Ride section of our club. These positions work very well when held by parents and guardians so, if you have enjoyed seeing your child develop through cycling, why not step up to the challenge of coaching? The club will support relevant training costs of anyone interested.
Thanet RC is run by volunteers and thrives because we have an active membership if you want to make a contribution to the club in any of the above ways, or in any other capacity, please let me know.
